Content is king. It gets to wear the crown. And sit on the throne. And rule the world. When it comes to establishing credibility, gaining trust and producing sales, content is royalty. While I would never suggest abandoning the concept of delivering high quality content to your subscribers, there is another type of list composed of subscribers who couldn’t care less about content.

“What is this type of list?” you ask. – The “announcement list”. At an event in 2002, I taught about the announcement list. Even so, it is still a widely unused tactic for email marketing. Mainly because nobody is teaching it. Therefore, no one has any information about it, nor how to effectively create one. Well, we are going to change that.

What Is An “Announcement” List?

DEFINED: An announcement list is a list whose sole purpose is to “announce” (I.E. Inform, notify) when something new is available for review, consumption or purchase. In other words, it unapologetically says, “Hey, I just released XYZ. Come check it out!” Now, at first glance you may be thinking, “Who would join a list that offers no content and only sales pitch?” If you say it that way, it doesn’t sound too good to me either! That’s why you don’t say it that way. Let’s take a look at HOW to “say it”…

Approximately fifty million people or so get on Myspace regularly, and every single user wishes his or her profile to stand out. Because of the high demand for Myspace graphics and layouts, there are a number of websites that offer Myspace freebies for users. It’s very easy for users to make their profiles unique.

If you enjoy sports, for instance, you can add a MySpace code layout representing your favorite team. There are many premade layouts that will help you do just that. For those that enjoy music, there are countless premade MySpace layouts dedicated to your favorite bands and artists. If spirituality and religion play an important role in your life, there are many premade layouts and graphics representing all faiths.

There is a high demand for “pretty,” and “glittery” layouts. Girls enjoy making glitter graphics and layouts, such as the infamous “dollz.” There are literally millions of glitter graphics, glitter layouts, and glitter dollz out there to choose from. It’s a trend for guys to pimp their websites out with sporty graphics, funny graphics and pictures, and more.

Have you been easily discouraged lately? Perhaps because the tape playing in your head echoes what’s been going on lately with the economy everyday. Maybe you should try and make a conscious effort to keep shutting it off everytime it wants to keep coming on, and focus on each new moment. I know it’s hard, but if I can do it you can do it.
