Knowing the difference between Google Page Rank and Trust Rank is one of the most important things to understand when you’re making a Search Engine Optimized (SEO) website. Your Google ranking will determine the number of visitors to your website, so it makes sense to understand how Google ranks you. Almost of all the traffic on the web comes from Google, so from the beginning you should know the differences between Page Rank and Trust Rank in order to maximize visitors to your site.
Page Rank is used by Google to determine if a website is an authority or not. Google does this by using a numbering system that goes from one to ten. Ten is the highest Page Rank number, and zero is the lowest. Typically companies like Microsoft, Google, or Yahoo will have numbers that are close to the nine or ten rating. Your average website has a Page Rank of anywhere between two and five. Backlinking is important to Page Rank numbers. Typically f there are more direct links to a given website, then there will be a greater chance that it has a higher Page Rank.

Your business might just be considering the possibilities of SEO for your marketing needs or could even be at the point of setting a search engine optimisation campaign up and if this is the case you may well be aware already of the important role that keyword research plays. If you opt for a professional SEO company to carry out the campaign, the costs you are quoted should be based on several factors, one of which is the keyword competitiveness. But how is keyword competitiveness analysed?
One of the first things you may look at in analysing the competitiveness is the number of results displayed in Google for that keyword. Actually search the keyword and check out the number displayed just under the search box that tells you roughly how many results there are. It’s a sweeping generalisation, but all the same, a keyword with a higher number of results is likely to be more competitive than one with fewer results.
As previously said, however, this is too general an indicator to use alone. Use link analysis tools such as Yahoo site explorer to analyse how many back links the sites in the top ten have. If the top ten sites all have literally thousands of links from other sites, then this could be a real indicator that you’re up against tough competition. By the same token, if the top ten and particularly the top three, have very few links then there’s an indication that the competition level could be fairly low.
