Choosing The Best Keywords Using Adwords Keyword Tool

Brilliant! You’ve put together the greatest video/article/podcast etc your niche has ever seen. Now you might as well start spending the money that’s inevitably gonna follow; right? Wrong! Great content is useless unless people see it!

Here’s a practical example for you to try right now. Type your niche into the google search box and hit enter. In your results skip forward to a page somewhere between ten and twenty. There’s a good chance you’ll find some sites this far down in the search that have content as good if not better than sites that come up in page one of your search.

The reason for this is simple; the site hasn’t been marketed properly! Without getting too technical, search engine optimization is creating content which is likely to show up high in a Google search. Remember 80% of a site’s traffic is usually from a search engine! Search engine optimization in the form of choosing the best keywords to target is a vital part of weather you’re going to get traffic and succeed online.

Luckily it’s easy to find the best keywords when you know what you’re doing! Google Adwords Keyword Tool is a very handy and free to use. What you do is type in a word or phrase or even a few words or phrases to do with your niche. You then hit the search button and see what other suggestions google gives you. Here’s an example; type in house training a puppy and you might get back house training a puppy along with a lot of other related terms. The results given back are actually real search statistics from google over the last month. This knowledge is very useful!

Next you have to choose the best keywords to use from the suggestions you are given. I like to pick keywords within the 8,000 and 30,000 global monthly search volume. Within this range you know there are a lot of searches being made for the term but the competition may not be as high as for the terms with very high search volumes. Check out my other articles on how to use these keywords.
