Email List Building Strategies
Posted by presellpro at Aug 12th, 2010 in Affiliate Marketing
You need a list. That’s a given. It’s the number one key to opening the success floodgates. Because you can market to your list whenever you want. It’s a resource you can tap at any time and generate income.
OK, but how?
There are 3 factors in list building you need to consider:
- The Squeeze Page
- The Incentive
- Your Confirmation Page
Your Opt-in Page – The landing page is the page that has your opt-in form on it. It’s the page where you ask them for their email address. This page needs to look professional. And it needs to be simple to see how to opt in. And have a clear call to action.
Failure to include a great “call to action” will result in failure. Your call to action tells the visitor what to do. Without this your opt-in rate will plummet. It’s strange, but if you don’t tell people what to do, they won’t do it.
If you want to add some extra juice to your opt-in page add a compelling video to the page. You only have a few second to get your visitors attention – video helps! And you can repeat the call to action several times int he video. Then at the end of the video you can print “sign up now” on the video.
Now, don’t worry if you have no idea how to make videos. Hiring out-sourced help to do it for you only costs $150 – $250. You can also find ready-made list building tools that have everything pre-built for you.
Your Bribe – The second component is the reason they are opting into your list. You have to give people a compelling reason to give your their email. Email privacy is very important to most people. This means your bribe needs to be very attractive.
You have to provide value in your bribe for it to be good. That means you make it something people would actually want to receive. And something from which they can derive a benefit. For example:
- A free report
- Software
- Videos
- An email series
You’ve got to create some great content. Something that’s useful and helpful to your visitors. It goes without saying it must be free. If you make it good enough, they will give you their email in exchange.
If you’re worried about creating this content, don’t be. You can just pay someone else to make it for you. You just pick the topic and they create the training. A 5-part email series is a good freebie. And you can get emails ghost written for about $20 – $25 each. So, a great premium will cost you around $100 – $150.
You can also get email list building tools that include the premium. There are two important things about the email series. First of all it has to give the subscriber what you promised – valuable information. And it’s nice if it earns you some money, too.
Mixing some affiliate products into your email series is a great way to do this. Affiliate products are easy because you don’t have to do anything at all. And it enables you to generate cash right away from your new list.
The Thank You Page – The last bit is the thank you page. This is the page your subscriber sees after they opt in. It’s a great idea to give them some valuable information right on the thank you page. That way, they feel glad that they gave you their email address. It also helps to build the relationship. So when they get your email, they’re happy to hear from you.
You can use a “done for you” email marketing system. You can also put the whole thing together on your own. You can either write the content pages on your own. Or hire ghost writers to write them for you.
Summary
It doesn’t matter if you do all of this yourself. Or hire someone else to do it for you. Or if you get a ready-done package. The important thing is that you build your own list starting now. Because once its built… You’ve got a license to print money!
