Attitude. You hear this magic word all the time. It goes a long way to determining success for you in network marketing. Your attitude toward your business is based on many things, and there are some attitudes you need to have when you begin your business.

Consider for a moment two different people who started network marketing businesses at the same time. One has been very successful, the other is still trying to make it work. What is different?

Julie found a network marketing opportunity she liked, and signed up five years ago. She has remained with that one opportunity and worked consistently to make her business grow and prosper. Sure, there have been roadblocks and times of discouragement, but Julie has patiently worked through them. Today, she is the third top earner in her company, and has succeeded in doing one thing she envisioned in the beginning – quitting the nursing job that she disliked. Now, she has money and time to pursue things she enjoys.

Robert also started his first network marketing business five years ago. However, he has always found something wrong with each business and has been continually attracted to greater opportunity elsewhere. As a result, he is now working his 7th MLM opportunity in five years. He has made very little money, but has spent a ton of time and energy doing it.

The attribute were talking about here is ability to focus and remain steady for the long term. This is what sets winners in network marketing apart from those who never seem to find any success. One was determined to reach her goals, and carefully chose her company and opportunity. She made a commitment to achieve her goals with that opportunity, and she did.

Our friend who moved around between many different network marketing opportunities over a five year period was what people would call a network marketing or MLM “junkie”. Junkies never seem able to stick with one thing, and are always on the outlook for the latest and hottest deals. Sometime they are involved in multiple opportunities at once.

MLM junkies arent necessarily lazy. Many of them work opportunities hard for a few months, see some success, but get frustrated and quit before the good stuff has had time to happen. They often think, with their work ethic, they should be making big bucks after a few months. So, they are easily drawn in by clever and convincing sales pitches the gurus throw at them. Its a shame.

Don’t be like the guy who blew opportunity after opportunity to achieve wealth and freedom. Don’t take your network marketing opportunity lightly – it’s serious business. Be sure you know why you want to build your business, so that you always have the motivation to get through tough times. Make sure your “why” makes the hard work and sacrifice (and your patience) worthwhile.

If you’re considering network marketing and still seeking the right opportunity for you, carefully research and weigh your options. Find a reputable company with products you really like and will enjoy using and recommending to others. This is so important, because your enthusiasm for your products will always show through when you’re presenting your business to prospects.

When all is said and done, you want to know that your opportunity is the best. You want to feel that what you have is the best home business out there. Don’t sign up for something based on hype and pressure – hold off until you have the right “gut feeling” – you’ll be glad you did.
